Teacher and Practitioner Training
_____________________________________________
Harmony Yoga are dedicated to teaching the Vinyasa Krama Yoga system as taught by Krishnamacharya and his students.
The training faithfully follows the parameters laid out in Patanjalis Yoga Sutras while respecting the students individual needs and interest.
Vinyasa Krama Yoga Training Courses – a three stage training programme based on the Yoga system restored and refined by Krishnamacharya. Steve has devised this course from his studies with students of Krishnamacharya. This is an authentic approach to Yoga. The courses are focused on practice and there are three stages, Introductory Course, Foundation Course and Practitioner Course. The course will be suitable for those who wish to practice for themselves, those who wish to train to teach and qualified teachers who wish to study this system of Yoga. Details of the Introductory Course is now available.
Connect with the teachings of Yoga master, Krishnamacharya: a comprehensive, authentic and classical approach to yoga practice that you can learn to apply in our modern world.
Vinyasa Krama Yoga uses asana (posture), pranayama (breathing) and meditation, with sequenced postures and variations (Vinyasa Krama).
The distinctive features of Vinyasa Krama are:
| The integration of movement, breath and attention. | |
| Its systematic approach to the practice, study and adaptation of yoga. | |
| Its faithful adherence to the parameters of practice given in Patanjalis Yoga Sutras. | |
| Postures are practiced with many vinyasas (sequences and variations). | |
| The full spectrum of Yoga derived
from the teachings of one of the worlds great masters. |

Vinyasa Krama Yoga Introductory Course
Two linked days of workshops will introduce the basic principles of Vinyasa Krama Yoga.
We will study and practice a few different vinyasas, learning how to align the movement and the asanas carefully with the breath. We will learn a few standing sequences, a supine sequence, a backbending sequence as well as a seated sequence.
You will be given a sample daily practice and we will discuss how to use the vinyasas that you have learnt to carefully construct a personal practice, which is important to make progress in Yoga.
You will also learn correct breathing and simple, effective pranayama and meditation techniques.
The course will focus on practice, with theory to support your understanding.
There will be an emphasis on how to establish or develop a personal practice.
We will have an overview of the Yoga Sutras and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika looking at key concepts and how they apply to our practice. Some home study and practice will be required in between the study days.
Some course texts will be recommended although you will not be required to buy any books for the Introductory Course.
Certification: On completion of the two days (12 hours) you will receive a Harmony Yoga certificate, Introduction to Vinyasa Krama Yoga.
Please contact Harmony Yoga if you wish to discuss the course further.
The Introductory Course is a prerequisite for the Foundation Course. There is then an option to study on the Practitioner Training Programme.
